Zonta honours top Canterbury secondary school athletes

School Sport Canterbury

The 27th Zonta Secondary Schools Sports Awards dinner was held on Thursday 26th October.

The annual event, initiated by the Zonta Cub of Christchurch South in 1990 to celebrate the sporting achievements of talented young Cantabrians, is a highlight of the year for award winners.

For many, recognition at the awards heralds the beginning of longstanding and highly successful international careers. Zonta International is a service organization of business and professional women, committed to raising the status of women and girls worldwide.

Judging of the Zonta Sports Awards was undertaken this year by Anita Sutherland, Aaron Webb, Zara Taylor, Vaughan Utteridge and Dave Harrison. This key group gave their time voluntarily for the challenging task of selecting finalists and winners from the total of 150 nominations reflecting the best of Canterbury sport.
