George Jackson – Riding High

In 2014 George Jackson from Rongotai College won two National Under-15 cycling titles. The first came on the track when he won the under-15 points race at the national championships in Invercargill in March. Then on May 2, Jackson turned in the ride of his life to win the 35km national under-15 road race in Hamilton.

“I went up there hoping for a podium finish so to win was pretty exciting,” Jackson said.

The promising Year 11 rider has graduated to the much tougher under-17 grade and is making good progress, despite being two years younger than most of his competitors. George talks about his cycling achievements and his future ambitions.

Albert Stanley – Sailing Around The World

This weekend Albert Stanley will travel to Antigua for two weeks to compete in the North American Optimist sailing championships.

The Year 9 at Rongotai College has been sailing his entire life, but has made rapid progress as a competitive racer in three years.  Albert talks about his experiences in sailing and his ambitions for the future.
